To mark the International Women’s Day 2018, the High Commission hosted a special event, organised and attended by women from the Rwandese Community in the UK.
The event involved addresses from the Women’s association leadership, Mrs. Jeanette Kagabo, NARC-UK Director for Women & Gender, Ms. Brigitte Masozera, RPF-UK Director for Women & Gender, as well as a focussed discussion, led by the High Commissioner, Her Excellency Yamina Karitanyi, on social issues pertinent to the Rwandese Community in the UK and the role women can play to tackle some of these problems. The High Commissioner called on the women to “continue to work together and support each other, to lead our homes and support our children too.”
The discussions were followed by a celebratory reception.
Thank you, wonderful #Rwanda-n ladies, able representatives of women in our communities in the UK, for your determination in raising, mentoring generations contributing to the #RwandaWeWant. Happy IWD & Mothers’ Day! pic.twitter.com/BhM7lYMASU
